Creative arts

Our Creative Arts program covers the creative areas of Visual Arts, Music, Dance and Drama.

We are proud to share that our students have created artworks that have been exhibited locally, nationally and internationally! We even have multiple artworks, that where created by our students, on permanent display within the Ballina Shire as part of their Public Art Program.

Our ‘How to get a Picture to tell 1000 Words’ Arts and Literacy Program has been shared all across Australia and has been integrated into the educational programs of multiple art galleries. It is a wonderful way to appreciate art and develop a rich understanding of the work of artists.

The school’s Raiders of the Lost Art program has helped us create outstanding opportunities where our students and community have created art-based projects where they have been mentored by local professional artists.

The annual whole school performance is ‘the jewel in our creative arts crown’ as every student gets to be a star! We have put on performances such as Aladdin, Shrek, The Jungle Book and even written a few plays of our own! The students’ participate in dance and music lessons to prepare for this theatrical production.

Our school also offers private music lessons run in partnership with the Northern Rivers Conservatorium of Music.

In creative arts, students discover a variety of art forms through a study of dance, drama, music and visual arts where they learn to appreciate, compose, listen, make and perform.

Each art form has its own unique knowledge and skills, elements or concepts as well as a capacity to inspire and enrich lives.

Creative arts is mandatory for students from Kindergarten to Year 6.
